Fleurieu Peninsula Family Holidays

Memories are made of this

Remember long lazy days at the beach? Remember building sandcastles, playing pirates, dangling legs over the jetty as you waited for a bite? Order fish and chips for dinner as the sun sets on a perfect day.

Building sandcastles on Aldinga Beach, South Australia

Pack away the DVD player. Take the kids fishing. Teach them how to cast a line, catch a squid and feel the sand between their toes as they hunt for cockles on Goolwa beach. Take them swimming, bushwalking, canoeing or sailing.

Take an adventure

Visit Greenhills Adventure Park or try paint balling. Let them hand feed kangaroos at Urimbirra Wildlife Park. Watch in awe as the little penguins come ashore at night on Granite Island.

Treat them to old time sweet shops and sticky buns from bakeries that are legendary across the state. You haven’t lived until you’ve eaten a cream kitchener bun from the bakeries around here.

Ride the horse-drawn tram

Put them right at the front, up the very top of the double-decker horse drawn tram that runs from Victor Harbor to Granite Island. Spot stingrays gliding under the causeway or seals playing in the waves, as the big draft horses clip-clop along.

Take them up the mighty Murray River on the paddle steamer Oscar W. Go for a ride on the Cockle Train from Goolwa to Victor Harbor and back.

Farm visit or joy flight

Visit a farm stay with pony rides and cows to be milked. They’ll get to see where food actually comes from. See their cheeks flushed with excitement! Take flight in a biplane and soar above the beaches with the wind whipping through your hair. It’s a once in a lifetime flight.
